Cross Country

Unfortunately, our cross country t-shirt supplier has had an on-going problem with fabric supply that is delaying completion of our school order.  We have received many shirts but are still short approximately 23 shirts.  Most of the missing 23 shirts are in the youth medium size.  We are hopeful that the missing 23 shirts will be delivered to us later this week.

On Monday October 15 we will distribute all the shirts that have been received to date.  The shirts will be delivered to children in their classroom and coaches will ask the children to put the shirt in their school bag.

There will be shirts on site at the October 16 meet that children can borrow if they do not have a school shirt.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

North Conference Finals on Oct 16th – Go Bulldogs!

On Tuesday October 16th , all participants will need to check in at the gym (where Mr Nikita will take attendance) by 8:15 a.m. as bus departure is scheduled from 8:30 – 8:45 a.m.  There will be one bus for all the grades (grs 3-6).

All participants will need to wear their Blythwood jersey. Dress in warm layers as it is forecasted to be a cool day.

For planning purposes, races will start at 10 a.m. with grade 3 girls followed by grade 3 boys, grade 4 girls, grade 4 boys, etc.  (same format as the Qualifiers on Oct. 4).  We expect the races will wrap up by 12:30 p.m. at which point all participants will be taking the bus back to the school.

Wishing our Bulldogs a great day on Tuesday!

All students in Grades 1 to 6 can participateeveryone makes the team!!!  The program benefits competitive runners, anyone wishing to improve their fitness levels and athletes cross-training for soccer, hockey, figure skating, etc.

All our morning practices are held 4x/week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 a.m. starting Sept 10th, 2018. Practices will be either in the school yard or at a nearby park (the TDSB Tryout & Participation Form is required for any child participating in off-site practices). Practices will end before school starts at 8:45 a.m.  We meet in the Blythwood schoolyard, by the old hockey pads.  Each session will start with a warm-up, dynamic stretching and then a specific running workout.

In the event of inclement weather (e.g. rain) which may impede practices, any cancellations will be posted on this website.

Children participating in the Cross Country program will be supervised during practices by parent volunteer coaches and Blythwood staff volunteers.

Th Cross Country program is run entirely by parent and staff volunteers who are committed to encouraging good sportsmanship and fostering an environment in which all students have equal opportunity for fun and to be part of an athletic team.  Parents and students are expected to treat the coaches, staff, and other students with respect.

All necessary Cross Country Program information will be available on this website.

Please let the coaches and staff know of any allergies (indicate on the TDSB Tryout & Participation Form).

For morning practices, students should dress for the weather and bring a drink to rehydrate after practice.  Running shoes with laces are mandatory – no slip-on running shoes or skateboarding shoes please.

For the TDSB Meets, students are expected to wear their green Blythwood T-shirts/jerseys. If you don’t have one already, please see a coach about borrowing one for the TDSB Meet(s).

Cross Country Shirt Order Update – IMPORTANT

We were advised on Oct. 1 that, due to a shortage in fabric supply, our shirt provider is only able to partially fill the Blythwood school cross country shirt order.  In order to ensure that every child has a shirt for the meet later this week, we have decided to accept this partial order from our supplier and treat these as 'team jerseys' which will be shared by all students who need a shirt.  This is the practice we follow with all our other school teams.

The shirts will be available to borrow from the school tent and must be returned to the tent after your child races so that all our children run in school colours.

The shirts will be cleaned by the cross country team and returned to our supplier for name printing, if that was what parents ordered.  Our supplier has indicated that they will be able to provide us with our completed order the second week of October. This means the shirts originally ordered will be delivered to children in their classrooms the second week of October.

We apologize for this change in plans.
