Home Parent Info Volunteers

Volunteers

Parents are encouraged to take part in some, or all, of the many school programs and activities for which volunteers are sought. Throughout the year, teachers and class parents will notify parents of volunteer opportunities in the classroom or on field trips. In addition, the Parent School Council coordinates many programs and events which have both short and long term volunteer opportunities.  If you would like more information or to volunteer, please contact the PSC Co-Chairs, Kristy Luciani at or Andrea Reid.

Effective September 2004, the Provincial Government requires that all volunteers with a school board, who have regular, ongoing contact with students be required to obtain a police reference check. Forms for these are available in the school office; there is a nominal fee.

Volunteer Form

  • Committees

I am interested in volunteering for the following committees (check all that apply):
  • The Fair is on September 21 from 11am-2pm. We need 100 volunteers to monitor inflatables and games, serve pizza, make popcorn and cotton candy, and set-up or take-down. Also, if you have teenagers, please encourage them to complete Community Service Hours by volunteering. For more information contact Amy Pandori at .
  • Mabel’s Fables will, once again, be setting up shop in the Blythwood gym on September 24-26. This fundraiser directly benefits the school library. We need 25-30 volunteers to help set-up, help students create their wish lists during school hours, and help take-down after Curriculum Night. For more information contact Alysa Kim at .
  • Help manage our desperate traffic situation weekday mornings from 8:35-8:50 am. Open car doors and welcome children to school! Shifts are only 20 minutes once every two weeks. For more information contact Juile Werry at .
  • Volunteers are needed to help organize and execute school charitable events (e.g., clothing and food drives) and support teachers as needed with student-led initiatives. For more information contact Lauren Purkis at .
  • We need 2 or 3 volunteers to help the school librarian with re-shelving borrowed books and weeding out old materials, as well as various projects. This job is a couple of hours once a week. For more information contact Nancy Compton in the library.
  • Volunteers are needed to join the pizza lunch committee to help organize class orders on pizza lunch days (there are 19 pizza lunches). Note: Helping to supervise your child’s pizza lunches in the classroom will be a separate sign up organized by the class parents. For more information contact Jessica Booth at or Martha Kerr-McNally at .
  • Volunteers are needed to assist staff and students with the production of the annual school yearbook. This role involves collecting photos, gathering sales orders and arranging delivery of the books. It will require several hours in May and June. For more information contact Nick Nikita.
  • The Blythwood Gala (May 1, 2020) is a biannual fundraising event run by parent volunteers. This event raises funds to give Blythwood tools and resources for a more enriched school experience than can be provided with the current level of funding from the TDSB. If you are looking for a way to get involved at the school, the Blythwood Gala is looking for volunteers to fill a variety of roles. For more information contact Jessica Booth at or Amy Pandori at .
  • We are always looking for volunteers to help with promoting traffic safety. Please contact Vanessa Bennett for more information.
