Principal’s Message
Coming and Goings of 2017-2018
The past year at Blythwood P.S. has been exciting and action packed! Our students, staff and Blythwood parent community have been engaged in many enriching, fun and incredibly meaningful experiences. Thank you to all for making my first year at Blythwood such a wonderful experience! Each and every day I am in awe of how our parents and staff work together to provide such a nurturing and outstanding environment for all to work and learn. We are truly blessed and I know that our students are thankful for all of the effort that goes into field trips, pizza lunches, class parties, graduations, sports teams, etc.
As we look forward to an exciting new school year in September, we also must say goodbye to two incredible teachers who have shared their expertise and passion for teaching and learning at Blythwood.
Mr. Caulford has worked for the past 13 years at Blythwood and has created incredibly kind and caring relationships with those who were fortunate to have him as their teacher. His support with softball teams, and extracurricular activities will be missed. The students at Bruce Public School and Morse Street Public School will be very lucky indeed to have Mr. Caulford as their French teacher.
Ms. Singh has been working at Blythwood for the past 9 years teaching most recently grade 3 to some very fortunate students. Her work with creating rich and engaging lessons for her students will be greatly missed! All the best at Churchill Public School.
We are very lucky to have Ms. Heriban-Nixon returning in September until the return of Ms. Osti next spring.
We would like to extend a huge Blythwood welcome to Mr. Peter Carnide who will be joining us in September from Bayview Middle School. He brings with him extensive expertise in robotics, mathematics and leadership in the field of technology.
Ms. Carri Brown joins us from Cedarbrook Public School. She also has extensive experience teaching 21st century learning skills as well as science and mathematics and will be bringing to Blythwood a musical production we look forward to seeing in the spring!
A big welcome as well to Ms. Malika Kharag will be joining us from Baycrest Public School. We look forward to having her work with our students and enriching their literacy and numeracy programming. Please read further about our new Blythwood staff in the bio section of this newsletter.
All the best to staff, parents and students as we head off in to the summer months. To all of the families who are leaving Blythwood this school year and moving on to new adventures in other schools, we thank you for all that you have done to make Blythwood such a wonderful school and wish you good luck in your future endeavours!
Have a safe, fun and enjoyable summer everyone. Take time to relax and enjoy all that the summer brings with friends and family. We look forward to welcoming our retuning students and staff in what I am sure will be an incredible 2018-2019 school year!
Diane

Wow, how fast this year has flown by! We have accomplished so much this school year, capped off by the Talent Show and Grade 6 Graduation.
We want to give a big thank you to Jessica Booth for all her hard work organizing and orchestrating this event. It was incredible to see such amazing creativity and talents from our school community.
Congratulations to the Grade 6 Graduating class. Make sure you come back to visit!
Looking towards the 2018-2019 school year, make sure to Save the Date: Saturday, September 15 for the annual Family Fun Fair. We have moved the Fair to a Saturday, so bring everyone! It will be a fun-filled day.
We would also like to welcome new Executive members for next year: Colleen Yoo and Christine McDonald for School Support and Kristy Luciani as Fundraising Chair. We are always looking for other volunteers throughout the school year, and if you would like to help out next year, please email our Volunteer Coordinator Chrystal Saffer at .
Next year is not a Gala year, but we have a ton of fun fundraising ideas we are working on for many new initiatives. Fundraising is an important part of augmenting our kidsʼ
learning experience, and with the funds currently raised, we are super excited about the new STEM Lab that is in the works. Come out to the first General Meeting on October 30thto learn more about what we have in store.
Have a safe and wonderful summer!
Thank you,
Amy & Jen
